Kwangtung Province Kuang-hsu Yuanpao Double Dragon Shou Character Coin This legendary treasure ranks at the pinnacle of Chinese numismatics, the king of all late Qing dragon coins. The Kuang-hsu Yuanpao Double Dragon Shou Character Coin of Kwangtung Province was minted in 1904 (the 30th year of the Guangxu reign). It was an imperial commemorative trial coin produced by the Kwangtung Mint by royal order, specially crafted to celebrate the 60th birthday of Empress Dowager Cixi. It was never issued for daily public circulation. As the most celebrated and legendary treasure among China’s modern machine-struck coins, it is honored as the King of Dragon Dollars and tops the list of China’s Top Ten Rare Modern Coins.
The coin’s design embodies royal rituals and the auspicious culture of ancient China.
